FAQs

Weather Policy

Pitt County schools cancel school on the day(s) of an event due to inclement weather, a “rain date” will be posted on the website and Facebook page.

Auditions

Children in grades K-12 are eligible; a link to the signup list will be posted on the website and Facebook page prior to auditions for specific day and time slots. We ask that only auditioning children enter the room, both to prevent distractions and limit the fear factor of performing for an audience. Young actors unable to audition in this setting may need to wait before joining us on stage.

  • Young readers (K-2) should recite a poem.
  • Older readers will read from the script (pages provided at auditions).
  • All actors may be asked to demonstrate vocal range, movement capability, pretend to be a character, etc.
  • Forms will be available online and in person to fill out.
  • Bring a small photo for the director (not returned).
  • No fees will be collected until a child is cast.
  • Remember to have fun!

Rehearsals

Cast meet on weekdays after school; times are based on the director and show requirements, and will be announced with auditions.

  • The first meeting will be 6:30-8pm on a Monday; it is mandatory for all cast and parents/guardians.
  • The final week’s rehearsals are from 6:45-9:15 p.m and will include all cast.

How often will my actor(s) rehearse? Smaller parts generally rehearse once a week; larger roles may rehearse twice a week or even every day in the case of the lead actor(s).

Attendance is mandatory for rehearsals during the last two weeks. Please alert us to any known conflicts or absences on the audition paperwork.

We depend greatly on volunteers to make our shows happen; check out this page to learn more about opportunities to serve.

New Parent Orientation

Important doesn’t begin to cover it: includes a presentation about our expectations and operational practices, including a calendar walkthrough and primer on volunteer responsibilities. It’s the perfect opportunity to have your questions answered. You will learn about scheduling costume fittings and monitoring dates.

Any student whose parent does not attend the New Parent Orientation, will be released from the cast, unless special arrangements have been made in advance with the director or producer.

Fees

The current production fee is $50 for the first child in a family and $40 for each additional child. Includes a show t-shirt and professional photography. Scholarships are available if needed. No additional money is required; we provide all costumes, shoes, scripts, etc.

Crew

Crew members must be at least 12 years old (or 10 with parental participation), and pay a $5 fee (due on the Technical Orientation Day). Show T-shirts may be purchased for $15. There are two options for participation:

  • Show Crew: work backstage or in the booth during performances; participants must attend the last two weeks of rehearsal. Running crew members will receive a black shirt to work backstage.
