As we enter our third week of rehearsals, we have also started with the behind-the-scenes work. Join us Saturdays from 10am to 4pm and help us create Wonderland. We need painters, builders, prop makers, flower "growers", and the list goes on. If you've ever wanted to see how we make the magic happen onstage, come experience the fun of stage craft. You don't need to come every Saturday or stay for the whole time, but we would certainly appreciate the help! Wear comfortable clothes that can get dirty and stained and bring a lunch if you're going to stay all day. Hope to see you all there!!

The Full Cast/Parent Meeting will be Tuesday, September 18th--6:30 to 8pm. Please come prepared to pay production fees and meet with your committee chairs. Also, this a reminder to use to links from last weeks' email to sign up for monitoring and costume fittings. See everyone tomorrow!!

The meeting scheduled for Monday, September 17th at 6:30 pm has been cancelled. We expect it to be rescheduled for Tuesday, September 18th instead. The rehearsal schedule will then proceed as on the previously-posted calendar. If we need to make up the missed rehearsal, we will do it later and there will be plenty of advance notice. Stay safe and dry as the hurricane passes.

We have a cast and it wasn't easy to choose. We had so many more talented young people audition than could fit on our stage.
If you weren't cast this time, please try again in January for our next show. Or consider drawing a picture for the artwork or working on tech this time if you are old enough.
If you were cast, your mother/father will be receiving an email with instructions on how to accept the role using a Doodle poll. That acceptance needs to be recorded by 9pm tomorrow (Tuesday) night. Thanks to everyone for their support of Smiles and Frowns Playhouse!

The paperwork and information sheets are ready!! Please continue reading for a few words of direction.
For actors, there are three forms to be printed, completed and brought to auditions, Audition Application Form, Emergency Contact Form and Parent Committe Form. Also bring a small photograph, a wallet-sized school photograph is fine, or a candid if you prefer. Tech students need to complete the Tech Application form and the Emergency Contact Form only. Included in the many documents are several that only need to be read for information. There is no need to bring them with you. Also, each family needs to complete only one copy of the Emergency Contact Form and the Parent Committee Form.
See you all next week!!

Auditions are approaching!! August 29th and 30th from 5pm to 7pm at the Ayden Parks and Rec building at 4354 Lee St. Please come with completed paperwork (will be posted here very soon) and a small (2x3 is fine) picture. We're all looking forward to another wonderful adventure in children's theater. See you soon!!

Smiles and Frowns Playhouse will hold auditions for the spring production, Puss in Boots. Auditions are January 8 and 9, 2018, from 5-7 p.m. at the Ayden Arts and Recreation Building, 4354 Lee St. in Ayden, NC. Students age 12+ interested in working on the Tech Crew should come to the audition to fill out paperwork and pay a $5 liability insurance fee. Students may also submit original artwork to be considered for the program cover, t-shirt design, and publicity. The production dates are March 23, 2018, at 7 pm and March 24, 2018 at 2 pm.

Smiles and Frowns Playhouse will be in the Christmas Town in Ayden Parade of Lights on November 30. We need our Playhouse Alumni to join us. Put on your previous show shirts and join us while we walk to promote our organization, the Town of Ayden, and this wonderful season. Send us a message to let us know you'll be joining us and we can send you lineup info. Parents, please come and walk with your little ones. We hope to see you there!

There's very little time left to get your ad placed in the program for our fall production, A Christmas Carol. If you or someone you know would like to advertise your business, or congratulate one of our young cast members, please fill out the attached form and turn it in by next Monday, October 16. You may return it in person at the theatre or via email. Checks may be made out to Smiles and Frowns Playhouse.

We now have beautiful artwork for our programs, T-shirts, and publicity. The winning artwork was submitted by Emma Finalyson. Posters have been printed and will go out this week: be sure to pick one up at rehearsal to share. Remember that A Christmas Carol will be presented in approximately one month at the Ayden Arts and Recreation Center on November 10 & 11.
