Things to note: New parents will have a Zoom orientation meeting on Thursday, September 15th at 7pm. The link for this meeting will be emailed to you on Monday. The first cast meeting/parents meeting is scheduled for September 19th at 6:30pm. All cast and crew need to attend to get copies of scripts, learn about the expectations, and have the chance to learn each other's name. While the cast and crew are meeting in the auditorium, parents will be meeting with the producer and committee leaders to finalize assignments and pay the production fees.
Congratulations to the cast and we are looking forward to working together with you and your children!
Attached to this post is the paperwork that needs to be completed and brought to the audition. There will also be copies there for you to complete, but doing them beforehand will speed the process of auditioning significantly. There is also a form to complete for being part of the tech crew. You do not need to sign up for an audition time, just bring the completed form during the audition times (between 5pm and 7pm on either the 6th or 7th.)
We are really excited for this production! It is different from anything Smiles and Frowns Playhouse has done in the past. First, there's Shakespeare; second, there's three different shows happening; third, the audience will be getting the chance to "pull back the curtain," and see what sometimes happens backstage. Come be part of the fun or come watch it in November!
It's time to see which children's theater group will win the festival this year! The powerhouse theater group, Curtains Up Theater Exchange, is back along with the students from Southern Grove Middle School, but the newcomers from Winchester Academy will also be there ready to strut their stuff on the boards. Come see what goes right and what goes wrong. Will the judges be impressed and excited or questioning why they ever agreed to be involved? You never know what can and will happen at the Jefferson County Children's Shakespeare Festival!
Smiles and Frowns Playhouse is excited to introduce the young actors of eastern North Carolina to the works of William Shakespeare in collaboration with Brendan P. Kelso, author of Playing with Plays, edited versions of Shakespeare's classic plays for children.
Auditions will be Tuesday and Wednesday September 6th and 7th from 5 to 7pm with performances on November 11th at 7pm and November 12th at 2pm.
Advance tickets for the spring production of The Princess Who Had No Name are now available for $5 from members of the cast, if you are lucky enough to know one.
They are also available at Edward's Pharmacy in Ayden, and at Body Bliss Salon and Spa and Artisans in Greenville. Tickets will also be available for $7 each at the door on the day of the show.
The actors have been working SO hard on their roles and their lines. Come out April 8th or 9th and watch this funny, fairy-tale mashup with all its princesses, dueling princes, dwarves, bears, and good and not-so-good fairies creating magic and mayhem.
