Dance Practice

Please review the following choreography for the dance in Act I Scene 4. The couples are: August & Faith, Owen & Lila, Mason & Madelyn, Mateus & Alexa, Josh & Daisy, Anna & Addison, Cadence & Lily. Remember that in each couple, the girl/downstage partner mirrors the boy/upstage partner.

First two measures (8 counts): get into position (August & Faith, Owen & Lila, Mason & Madelyn, Mateus & Alexa)
3rd measure (4 counts): bow / curtsy
4th measure (4 counts): rise from bow/curtsy (take hand on last count)
5th measure (4 counts): 3 steps forward, touch foot on last beat (boys start on right foot, girls on left)
6th measure (4 counts): 3 steps back, touch foot
7th measure (4 counts): 3 steps forward, touch foot
8th measure (4 counts): 2 steps back, step out, step out

9th measure (4 counts): triplet hops (boys right, girls left) / triplet hops (boys left, girls right)
10th measure (4 counts): turn around (boys right, girls left)
11th measure (4 counts): triplet hops (boys left, girls right) / triplet hops (boys right, girls left)
12th measure (4 counts): turn around (boys left, girls right)

13th/14th measures (8 counts): 2 counts take hands, 4 steps downstage (boys start on right foot, girls on left)
15th/16th measures (8 counts): 4 steps upstage

17-20 measures (16 counts): 4 couples hop back and forth (boys start on left, girls on right)
Josh/Daisy, Anna/Addison, and Cadence/Lily join the line in that order

21st/22nd measures (8 counts): odd partners take hands and turn around one step at a time (boys step to left, girls step to left)
August/Faith, Mason/Madelyn, Josh/Daisy, Cadence/Lily

23rd/24th measures (8 counts): odd partners take hands and turn around one step at a time (boys step to left, girls step to left)
Owen/Lila, Mateus/Alexa, Anna/Addison

25th/26 measures (8 counts): August & Faith take hands and skip down the line (back upstage out of the way as soon as you get to the end)

27th/28th measures (8 counts): Owen & Lila take hands and skip down the line, all others clap as the music ends.
